About the Programme

Pictured above is Presenter Debra Ashton with Writer Peter Singer.

'Animal Liberation' was first published in 1975 and immediately became the founding philosophical manifesto of the animal liberation movement. Listed by Time magazine as one of the 100 most influential people in the world, Singer is one of the world's foremost thinkers on ethics and a professor of philosophy at the University of Princeton. His utilitarian standpoint and long career specialising in the field of applied ethics means that he is no stranger to controversy, having written and argued about the ethics of food, globalisation, George W. Bush (with whom he shares a birthday) and secularism.

The Animal Rights and Wrongs show is Presented by Debra Ashton and Eric Wolff every Saturday from 11am On Wellington Access Radio 783am.

The show includes the latest news on People Working for Animals, Factory Farming - hens and pigs, Dairy Farming, Live Sheep Exports, Animal Research, Kaimanawa Horses, Fur Farming, Veganism, Environmental Issues, Palm Oil, Animal Sanctuary's, Zoos, Animal and Eco Friendly Fashion, Cruelty Free Cosmetics, Hunting, Celebrities Campaigning for the Rights of Animals, Kiwi Music, What's On and What you can do to help the animals.
