A brand-new reggae show is hitting the airwaves LIVE every Friday night at Wellington Access Radio!  

2DMC stands for 2 DJs and an MC – DJ Swagmantic, DJ I Dread and MC Mato – and they are your hosts on a two-hour journey of pure reggae niceness.  

The team are no strangers to radio, having been part of Vibes From Africa (Wednesdays, 6-7pm), but saw a gap in the airwaves when it came to reggae.  

‘Reggae music has a huge global following, not only because of the soothing rhythms but also the positive messages that are part of it,’ says DJ Swagmantic. ‘We have had this burning desire to broadcast this message for a while and are glad that we got a spot on Wellington Access Radio to pull it off.’  

The show focuses on playing tracks from around the world, interviews, and exploring trending issues in the community, but aims to expand into hosting gigs, concerts and cultural workshops in the future.  

‘It’s just the tip of the iceberg,’ says DJ Swagmantic. ‘We want to go deep into the history of NZ reggae, incorporate local reggae artists and later venture into gigs like One Love. But for now, our main agenda is to have New Zealand aware of the show and what reggae is all about.’ 

Station Manager Tony Kemp says that the station is excited to be hosting such a great new show.  

‘The energy that the hosts bring to 2DMC is amazing. It’s such a positive show to listen to and we love that it’s live every Friday night. It’s the perfect way to start a weekend!’
